Week 2: First Day in the Classroom

I was a little nervous the first day as my MT was away last week, so I could not meet her as well as the students. This would put me behind compared to others in this course, but I soon learned this was not the case. My MT was very warm and welcoming, as were the students. I was introduced to each student as they walked into the room, and it was at this point I felt at ease.

Throughout the day, I walked around the classroom, checked what the students were working on, and assisted them if needed. I was still determining if I should jump in at a point during a lecture, but I did regardless, and my MT said she was happy that I was jumping in and acting as a teacher.

I am nervous about remembering all the students’ names. When I was walking around today, I was trying to look at their name tags on the side of the desks and made it a point to say their names as I talked to them. I want to have them all down in the next few weeks. My goal next week is to get even more involved in the classroom! I’m excited to see what next week holds!
